Two of Hearts

I painted Two of Hearts as part of my Houseplants series. The project explores the concept of home by comparing humans to houseplants; organic beings rooted in domestic space. Seen through a flat birds-eye-esque view, the strange perspective is a reminder that the scene is psychological rather than physical. Pockets of empty space make Two of Hearts feel as if it is living and breathing, heightening the relationship between the parallel figures and linking the two with the game of cards, as well as to the title, Two of Hearts.
