On the contrary, Rib-eye is a vivid example of an extremely measured and thoughtful Carpets series. I started working on it just at the end of my studies in London. By that time, I was coming to understand what was important for me and how exactly I wanted to share it. And it took me another 5 years to thoroughly think everything up and translate it into a series of works consisting of more than 20 large-format canvases. This painting shows the contrast of cultures and certain social codes of the East and the West, and thereby creates tension and a kind of inconsistency of various elements of the composition. The visual language in the work is not chosen randomly, the idea of the artificial and the unreal is extremely important for this series and that is why the carpet is painted rather than being real.
