Somehow, the theme of stairs was in the air for quite a while but I never gave a thought about drawing them. I often dreamed that I would climb up an almost vertical moving staircase trying to hold. I would desperately grab onto the steps but still would slide down, and wake up... I cannot really say I was upset about the dream; it just kept coming back from time to time. Then, one day in Greece, it happened that I began to notice stairs everywhere. They were white, inviting, twisted and led to no one knows where, into some back streets of tiny Greek towns. They were so saturated with sunlight and warmth they seemed to be gleaming from within… Instantly, I got a strong urge to draw them…
